He represented Northern Ireland at the PDC World Cup of Darts for more than a decade, reaching the 2014 semi-finals with Mickey Mansell and later partnering Daryl Gurney, most recently in 2024. In 2026 he began playing under the Republic of Ireland flag on the PDC tour.
Why is Brendan Dolan called The History Maker?
At the 2011 World Grand Prix in Dublin, a double-start event, Dolan hit a nine-dart finish in his semi-final against James Wade: 160, 180, then treble 20, treble 17 and the bull. It was the first televised nine-darter under the double-in, double-out format. He lost the final 6-3 to Phil Taylor, his only major final to date.
How did Brendan Dolan build his career?
His first PDC ranking title came at a Players Championship event in 2013, where he beat Ricky Evans 6-3 in the final. He added a second that year and three more in 2014. In May 2024 he beat Jeffrey de Graaf 8-4 in Hildesheim to win Players Championship 10, his tenth PDC ranking title.
At the World Championship he has twice reached the quarter-finals. In 2019 he lost to Nathan Aspinall, and in 2024 he lost 5-1 to Luke Littler.
How has Brendan Dolan played in 2026?
He won his opening match at the 2026 World Championship against Tavis Dudeney. At the 2026 UK Open he lost his first match to Ricky Evans. He was ranked 53rd on the PDC Order of Merit as at 18 October 2026.
